Calcium Folinate (Ebewe)
What it is used for
Calcium Folinate is indicated as rescue therapy to reduce toxicity following high dose methotrexate therapy. Calcium Folinate has shown good results in the treatment of certain megaloblastic anaemias resulting from folic acid deficiency. This mainly occurs in infants, during pregnancy, in malabsorption syndromes, liver diseases, sprue and malnutrition. It is not more effective than folic acid for these conditions. It is also used for the overdosage of methotrexate and in impaired methotrexate elimination and reducing the toxicity and circumventing the effects of folic acid antagonists.
How to take it
The way to take this medicine is: Intramuscular. This medicine is given through a needle inserted into the muscle beneath the skin.
